I did an apt-get remove ajenti and it gave me an error mentioning ajenti when I rebooted. I found out that the problem was that /etc/init.d/.depend.stop (and .depend.start) still referenced ajenti. I used a plain

insserv

command to regenerate these files, and it ("it" being "startpar", I think) stopped trying to start it.

This was on a debian-derived installation.
